Exploring Pastels CAA's Exploring Pastels Class combines the best aspects of drawing and painting in one medium: the artist may draw as readily as with graphite or charcoal, yet incorporate color as easily as with oils or acrylics. In this class, we'll learn hatching, cross-hatching, and continuous tone techniques for applying color; basic color theory; composition; and most importantly, how to convey the beauty of light and dark as they shape the objects before us. A still life will always be available, but students may also bring in their own still life subjects or work from photos if they prefer.
