Moldmaking & Casting Requirements

Student must provide a single (finished) clay sculpture to mold.
Although the rubber mold making process is not inherently damaging
to clay sculptures, be aware that mistakes can be made and the
original clay sculpture may be altered in the learning process.
Total volume of the piece should not exceed 1200 cubic inches!
Oil-based clay or (damp) water-based clay sculptures are highly
recommended.  As this is a beginning class with time constraints,
the sculpture should contain minimal negative spaces (and holes or undercuts)
or long appendages.  Sculptures such as human busts or torsos are ideal
for this class.  If you are unsure of the suitability of a particular
piece (size, shape or material), contact CAA prior to the start of the class.
